Where am I now?
On the surface the answer to this question is quite simple. I am sitting in our apartment in Haiyang, China attempting to write this chapter. We have been back here for about three months having spent the past year in Beijing.. We still don’t have any heat in our apartment; making this the coldest winter of my life. By Levack standards the winter is actually quite mild … the problem is the temperature outside is the same as the temperature inside …brrrr!
At a deeper level ... emotionally, spiritually, philosophically the answer is much more complex. Chances are I don't even know the complete answer.
Nonetheless, I will share some current thoughts:
Seems I am having a liminal space experience.

At a deeper level ... emotionally, spiritually, philosophically the answer is much more complex. Chances are I don't even know the complete answer.
Nonetheless, I will share some current thoughts:
- It feels like I'm at a new threshold ... someplace I have never been. It's intimidating, exciting and challenging
- It feels like I have completed the ‘gathering’ phase of whatever thoughts et al I’m supposed to gather. Writing this reminds me of a statement attributed to Confucius. “When the father has gathered and prepared the firewood, if the son cannot carry the bundle, he is to be pronounced degenerate and unworthy.” Perhaps the time has come to ‘bundle’ my thoughts in written form.
- This new feeling arrived unexpectedly on February 18, 2015. … the anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s third appearance to St Bernadette in Lourdes. Also, February 18th this year was the eve of the Chinese Spring Festival. Finally, this year is the Year of the Sheep in the Chinese Zodiac. So much of my thinking is founded on the behaviour of sheep. Hmmm!
Seems I am having a liminal space experience.
